Tunisia National Day 2018

In both prehistory and recorded history, Tunisia is a historical hotspot. Tools from the Middle Stone Age (around 200,000years ago) have been unearthed near Kelibia, and the area was permanently settled at least 5000 years ago. Within its borders are seven Cultural World Heritage Sites, evidence of the empires that rose and fell over the millennia.
The modern Republic of Tunisia has been an independent nation since March 201956. Today, the day is marked by government speeches and parades, and some local leaders lay wreaths in tribute. For many, its a day of remembrance and gratitude.

Happy Independence Day, Tunisia!
